Knot density in handwoven rugs

A hand woven carpet is truly a work of art as it takes skilled master weavers 8-12 months to complete a design. Knot density determines the quality of the carpet, the value being determined by the knots per square inch. The higher the knot count, the more valuable the carpet. Hand woven rugs can withstand years of use, even in high traffic areas. Most contemporary designs carried by W Studio start at a knot count of 100 knots per square inch, while the more complex traditional designs start at 300 knots per square inch.
