The natural structure of wool fibers helps repel liquids and form beads on the surface once a spill occurs. It should give enough time to pick up the spill before the moisture gets absorbed further. We’ve tested the red wine spill on our whitest carpet and were able to take it out using the following method: pick up excess liquid using paper towels, blot the area and avoid rubbing. Treatment for water based spills (alcohols, juice, soft drinks, tea and coffee) are best treated using the blotting method with a paper towel. Rinse the area with a small amount of water if necessary. In some cases it may be recommended to gently wash the stain using a diluted wool detergent (such as woolite). For stubborn stains consult a professional carpet cleaner.
